Final Call for the Freedom Party
By Alton H. Maddox, Jr.

This Saturday, the Freedom Party will not only kick-off its journey to City Hall but it will also initiate a crusade to not only put George Zimmerman behind bars but also the judge, the special prosecutor, and the defense team. They conspired to deny Trayvon Martin his civil rights. This will be a protracted struggle and not a pacification program.

According to recent media reports, Anthony Weiner had become the front-runner in the 2013 mayoral campaign due to strong support from the Black community. This means that Blacks were willing to forgive a sexual pervert and give him a second chance. I was surprised. Weiner has never been an outspoken advocate for Black causes. Thus, Blacks have two sets of rules.

Now, he is a recidivist. It will be interesting to see how this latest sex scandal affects his stature in the Black community. In the meantime, Eliot Spitzer used the Black community to collect signatures for his belated campaign for comptroller. Spitzer despises Blacks. Weiner and Spitzer are relying heavily on political support in the Black community which has the largest voting bloc in New York City.

No one would believe that Blacks constitute the largest voting bloc in New York City. Seemingly, Blacks are simply waiting to go into polling booths in September to select white, city-wide candidates from a political menu fashioned by whites. With all of the municipal problems that Blacks face in New York City, this political lethargy is incredible.

Without the Freedom Party, persons around the world would readily conclude that Blacks have lost their collective minds in New York City. Our revered ancestors did not die so that we could simply vote. They died for the right to vote because whites had failed and refused to include all the people. This is like the plantation. Blacks pick the cotton. Whites eat the fruit.

Until July 23, 2013, Tawana Brawley has been on the front burner. Very few Blacks including all Black selected officials are willing to go to war over white abuse of our women. Yet, Black selected officials insist on leading the Black community even though they are poor role models for our youth. They lack any backbone.

United African Movement was in Surry, VA on July 23, 2013. I am still in Virginia to complete the legal process in Pagones v. Brawley and to do some housekeeping. It was the first time in Black history that an organization has demanded to dismantle a Confederate statue in front of a Courthouse “or else”. Tawana Brawley refused to go into the Confederate courthouse. This took courage.

The Freedom Party will kick off its mayoral campaign on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. If Black people intend to stop being political pawns and, instead, secure self-determination, the first blow will occur at the Brooklyn Christian Center, 1061 Atlantic Avenue (bet. Franklin and Classon) in Brooklyn. Take the “C” train to Franklin.

Candidates of the Freedom Party for mayor, public advocate and comptroller in addition to councilmanic candidates will be unveiled. This must be a grassroots effort to break the shackles of slavery. If Blacks are willing to support Weiner and Spitzer, they should certainly be willing to support the outstanding candidates of the Freedom Party. What will Weiner and Spitzer or any other city-wide candidate do for you?

Time is of the essence. We still have time to beat the productivity of Eliot Spitzer. It is certainly within the realm of possibility for candidates from the Freedom Party to be leading the fight in City Hall against whites short-changing our future. The Freedom Party has signed a lease for office space to include this mayoral campaign and the gubernatorial campaign in 2014. If we do not intend to use the vote for our agenda, the U.S. Supreme Court was correct in outlawing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
